THE WONDER PROJECT (AT MAXILLA STUDIO), in collaboration with Rachael Nee.

A wonder created from the collective imagination of the community. Our intention is to run a series of workshops on the future of Maxilla with different communities. From this we wanted to reveal and develop the 'collec­tive imagination.' There would be exhibitions of the work created, along with oral histories taken, bringing the different communities together into Maxilla to develop a common goal. After this initial R&D stage we intend to develop a larger longer term project with the findings to make the collective 'wonder' happen. The final outcome of this is unknown as we do not know what will come out of the workshops. The onus is on developing what comes out of the workshops, not us imposing ideas. From the first 'wonder' workshop it seems clear that nature is very much a part of people's ideas for the future of Maxilla. We don't see the plants as weeds and we are creating an archive of what thrives there as these will be the most sustainable plants. As with motorway verges these, what are perceived to be neglected areas, can turn into rich habitats.
